Newsletter: Term 4, Week 3

$2,500 FOR YOUR SCHOOL!

The garden team have won another grant for the school. The $2,500 will be used to build a spectacular raised garden bed modelled on Mr Green, a frog pond and a tiered seating area near the bush tucker garden. The money has come from the NSW Environmental Trust Eco Schools Program.

CHOOK AND GARDEN CARE OVER SUMMER BREAK

Have you even wondered what it would be like to have chooks? Always wanted to try but never got around to it? We need families to volunteer to look after the girls over the summer break. We know many of you have been interested in minding the chooks during the holidays and here is another opportunity. We organise everything for you, delivery of the chooks, their house and their food etc… all you have to do is care for them and enjoy their delicious fresh eggs.

We also need volunteers to water the garden during the holidays for a week at a time. Any produce ready to pick will be yours!

The kids would love it! If you can help, let Rhonda French know on 0414 307 352.

FRIENDS OF THE GARDEN END OF YEAR CELEBRATION

We are going to kick back with some food and beverages on the 12th of November to celebrate a great year in the garden. Have you taken part in making the garden what it is today? Whether you have mastered the act of digging, had the chooks, fed the punters at Bunnings, cut mosaic tiles or helped in any other way... please come along for a picnic at Crosslands. Have a chat to someone in the garden team for details.

A GREAT BUSY BEE

We had another productive and rewarding weekend in the garden. The rest of the fruit tress are in, the swale has been expanded, the chook fence mended and excellent progress made with the irrigation work. Thanks to everyone once again. It has been a huge year and so much hard work has gone into making the garden look how it does today.

HARVEST TIME FUN TIME

Mrs Baker’s class had a wonderful harvest yesterday. The kids walked away with big smiles and handfuls of spinach, lettuce, beetroot and little carrots!

THE GARDEN CLUB

The Garden Club is underway with a new group of year four students. Each Monday they are helping to create some wonderful ornaments which will eventually be on show in the garden. Won’t they be proud when they see what they have made?! Mosaic bees, snails, lizards, just to name a few…

NEXT MEETING

The next meeting is on November 15 in the school library. See you at 7pm.
