Mr Green the Gecko says...

After all this heavy rain you may find nutrients have been carried away from the soil. Make sure to replenish
these nutrients with an organic all purpose fertilizer or fish emulsion.

Newsletter Term 1 Week 6

For those of you who are at the school for the first time, the Eco Food Garden is an initiative of a group of interested parents and teachers who  decided to set up an organic herb and vegetable garden for the school to use and enjoy. The garden site sits in between the hall and the library and in front of the new classrooms. We meet monthly and welcome anyone to come along. We have lots of exciting plans for 2012. We also
will be having regular working bees for parents to come and help in the garden.

Bunnings BBQ
Make sure you keep Saturday the 19th May free. This will be our annual fund raising Bunnings BBQ day. We will need a lot of volunteers to help on the day. More details coming soon.

Who is Mr Green?
Mr Green is a little gecko who is our garden mascot. If you look around the garden you may even spot him! He is very eager to share his gardening tips especially in the school newsletters.

NEXT MEETING
The Eco Food Garden team is a group of parents and teachers who are working to construct and maintain our great garden. Our next meeting is Tuesday February 21 at 7pm in the school library.  We meet monthly and welcome anyone to come along.

THANKS TO ALL THE HELPERS OVER THE HOLIDAYS
Thank you to the six families that helped look after the garden over the holidays. Although we did not need to water too much it was great to know the fruit trees were being cared for over the break.

Our chooks had a fabulous time holidaying across Hornsby Heights. Thank you to the Angel’s, Cameron’s, and the Wrightson’s for the wonderful care of the girls.

PAPER AND CARDBOARD RECYCLING AT SCHOOL
Last year we conducted a paper audit over a month. This year we are pleased to report the school will be starting a regular collection for paper and cardboard recycling. This is a wonderful way for us to step up our efforts to reduce our land fill.
