Newsletter Term 2 Week 6

Bunnings BBQ
Thank you to everyone who helped at the recent Bunnings BBQ. We raised over $900 on the day. Well done! Looks like we will be having another Bunning BBQ in August this year too – stay tuned!

Working Bee
Don’t forget there is a working Bee this Saturday from 12pm. All willing helpers are welcome to come and help us build a new fence for the chooks.

More Shoes
Do you have an old shoe or pair of shoes that are closed in with laces and that you aren’t using anymore? We are collecting old shoes of a range of sizes and colours for a new garden project. All they need is to be closed in and have shoelaces. If you have any shoes you don’t need anymore please bring them to Miss Scanlon.

New Garden Features
Next time you are near the garden make sure to check out the mosaic mushrooms and solar powered lights which were installed last Friday.

Missing
Our new solar butterfly lights for our garden went missing  on Monday Night. If you happen to see them around please encourage who ever has them to return them to where they belong.

Meeting
Our next meeting is tonight, Tuesday 29th May at 7:00pm in the Library. Everyone is more than welcome to attend.

Aloe vera is an easy plant to grow by providing full sun, a warm climate and good drainage. Use aloe vera plants to heal wounds and burns.

Mr Green the gecko says...

It’s Rhubarb Time!
If you have rhubarb planted it’s a good time to harvest now and make a yummy rhubarb crumble. Add some orange rind to make it extra tasty. YUM YUM!

Newsletter Week 2 Term 2

Next meeting will be held in the library on Tuesday 29th May at 7:00pm. We welcome any new interested parents to come along.

Bunnings BBQ
We are having a Bunnings BBQ on the 19th May from 9am- 4pm. If you are able or would like to volunteer to help on this day (even for an hour or two). As this will be our only one this year don’t miss out on signing up to help!

Pasta Day
Pasta Day was a huge success as many children got over their fear of ‘green stuff’. 2S were blown away by the
massive amount of basil and parsley in our gardens. Thanks to all of the helpers who ended up being here all day cooking tonnes of pasta and feeding the masses.

Frog Pond
In the last week of Term 1 the Frog Pond was installed. 2M were busy digging to make a big enough hole. We have put some lillies and also water chestnuts and now we are just waiting for the frogs to arrive. We will also put some native fish in later this term. We would like to give a big thanks to Four Seasons Plant Bug for supplying the pond and plants. Their continued support makes all of these activities achievable.

Planting
In the last week of Term 1 all of the classes were involved in replanting the gardens. This year we decided to go with varietal gardens. We have a pizza garden, a salad garden, a soup garden, stirfry garden and a garden for growing lettuce and fresh produce for the canteen. The last garden is a rainbow garden with foods of a variety of colours and some snow peas to add more colour. Over the holidays they were all well watered and hopefully we will be able to have lots of yummy food days throughout the winter.

Working Bee
This term we have many great plans for beautifying and expanding the garden. While most of this work can be done by the children there are a few major projects coming up that require the skills and handiwork of stronger people. We will be having a working bee on the 2nd of June from 12pm for a few hours to install fencing and a big one on the 16th of June from 9am. If you would like to come and help or just drop in and see what is happening please do! Many hands make light work J
